Xhavit Zariqi was born on 15.11.1960 in Rahovice. He attended primary and secondary school in Ferizaj, before studying in the Department of Natural Sciences of the University of Prishtina. Raised in a family that fostered national and patriotic traditions, he served the national cause and was arrested and sentenced to one and a half years imprisonment at the age of 22.
Upon release from prison, he continued his activity and serving the national cause, as part of the National Financing Council for Ferizaj municipality. He was also a member of the Ferizaj branch of the Human Rights Council. In 1998, he was arrested for his engagement in the funding of the Kosovo Liberation Army and was sentenced to three years imprisonment.
He is a graduated economist and one of the founders of the Kosovo Democratic Party in Ferizaj, and a branch vice-president, secretary and presidency member since its establishment. He was a member of the Municipal Assembly of Ferizaj between 2000 and 2013, and member of the Policy and Finance Committee and head of caucus of the opposition. On 23.07.2012 he was elected Chairperson of the Municipal Assembly by unanimous vote of all parties present in the Municipal Assembly.
Since January 2013, he is Vice-President of the AAK Branch in Ferizaj, and Mayoral candidate of this party for Ferizaj in the 2013 local elections.
In the beginning of 2014 he was elected President of the AAK Branch in Ferizaj and is currently Deputy Mayor of this municipality.
In the 22 October 2017 elections, he was a Mayoral candidate representing the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK).
