Energy efficiency decreases costs and stimulates economic development
Prishtina, Implementation of energy efficiency measures entails numerous benefits, which can be summarized in the following five categories: diminishment of energy invoices, represents a cost-effective investment, provides positive environmental effects and simulates economic development, said the Minister of Economic Development Blerand Stavileci today during a presentation of a prefeasibility study on the Energy Efficiency Fund.
Present in the presentation on the EE Fund were representatives of the World Bank (WB), European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), German Cooperation Agency (GIZ) and civil society representatives.
Our vision regarding the energy sector comprises five components, all of which of great significance: TPP Kosova e Re, TPP Kosova B, TPP Kosova A, Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Sources, said Stavileci, adding that all these five components will be addressed as challenges in the future, in order to balance sector interests with social and environmental considerations.
The Head of MED said that in the recent years numerous efforts were made to implement projects that are related to the implementation of efficiency measures, and that this should be understood as an investment, because it does represent an investment in the reduction of kilowatts per hour.
Implementation of energy efficiency measures has a positive impact in the provision of new employment possibilities, as in the five years it is thought that some 11.851 new jobs will be created, said Stavileci.
Further, representatives of EECG, SHITA & Associates and RECURA presented parts of the prefeasibility study, from the technical, legal and financial aspects.
